How To Start A Band (STEP 1)

Let’s get started on how to start a band. How to choose what size band we are starting.

What type of music we are shooting for will help us determine what size band to start.

Is it a 5 piece band? Is it a 3 piece band? Just how many is enough?

Typically if your going to start a band that plays rock music you would have two guitarists, one bass player, one drummer, one vocalist and maybe one keyboard. That isn’t to say that you have to start with this number of players in your band. Many bands start with minimal members and add as they go along or subtract members if it gets to be too much.

There is no real magic number for this just keep in mind what you visualize your band as being. So with that being said, I would recommend starting small and working your way up.

So get that notepad out and try and think of what bands you like to listen to and wright down about 10 of them.  That you love the style or type of music they play.

The next step today is to also wright down your friends or people you know that you would like to be in this band.
